1938 Porsche Type 64 - Click above for high-res gallery

Back in 1938 - a decade before the 356 legends - Ferdinand Porsche developed what the German automaker now considers the "first ancestor of all Porsche sports cars." Called the Type 64, the car employs a number of construction methods and style that later came to typify the brand that bears the designer's name mentioned in the 356 all the way until today 911.

The type of rationalization 64 has sat as the "first and most important exhibition in the Porsche Museum in Zuffenhausen since it opened in January 2009 and will be shipped out of Germany for the first time since it was carefully restored by the manufacturer because makes its way to the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Type 64 will be on display in Atlanta for The Allure of the Auto Show on 21 March until 20 June. During this time away, the Porsche Museum in Germany show the bulk of wood used as a framework for striking the aluminum body of 64 of complex type.
