International development faces serious challenges, whoever wins the next election. With the cuts in domestic spending in a very real possibility, in protest at the continued historically high level of aid spending is inevitable. It is likely that the aid budget will face a tough fight.
Last year, the Liberal Democrats put forward their ideas on international development in a policy document, which outlined its support to 0.7% of GDP, a call to redouble efforts to achieve the Millennium Development Goals and the recognition that aid sometimes fails and that financial aid is perhaps the most effective way of providing support.
At 11 am (GMT) on Tuesday 16 March, the Liberal Democrat spokesman on international development, Michael Moore, will be online live for one hour to answer questions about party policy and support issues and integral development .
