Our Wedding Family is an awkward mix of Guess Who's Coming to Dinner and the bride's father who deals with the face of uncomfortable humor and often unacknowledged racism among African Americans and Latinos, but lacks the depth or development necessity to offer more than the vision of "do not speak Castilian" and jokes of probation.

The premise is simple: America Ferrera plays a young Latina beautiful, intelligent and nice name Lucia, who has dropped out of law school so she can marry her handsome, intelligent, sympathetic African American boyfriend, Marcus (Lance Gross) . They plan to go to Laos, where he will work for Doctors Without Borders. Of course, none of this sits well with her overprotective father, Miguel (the bad comedian Carlos Mencia, who seems to be softened Valium here, thank God), or your marriage, single parent phobic, Brad (Forest Whitaker). Lucia's mother seems to have much say in the matter, anyway.
