It is old and tired story by now, but one of my biggest disappointments is that Angela Bassett geek not played Storm in X-Men. She is one of the rare actresses who seems made for the action-adventure movies (which launched a major beating in Strange Days), but never actually land features of the franchise. But it may finally join the comic book universe, as reported by Variety magazine that has signed the Green Lantern.

Bassett will play Dr. Amanda Waller, who is a recurring character in many of the DC books. She's not a superhero, but a government agent who has led his teams of superheroes. He was the head of the Suicide Squad, a team of supervillains who opted for dangerous missions in return for amnesty. It was also the leader of Checkmate, DC PAHO covert agency.

It is an interesting character to pop into Green Lantern, especially because Waller played no role in Hal Jordan stories that I recall. She has played over some of the stories of Batman and Superman (who even served under Lex Luthor in his term as president unpleasant) and has appeared in Justice League Unlimited and Smallville. I imagine those fervently wishing for a movie Justice League could see this as the hope of Warner Bros and DC are going to start to tie together the universe, despite what Christopher Nolan says. And who knows? Perhaps you are right at the end.
